My First Blog Post

KGU location: Hirakata city, Osaka Prefecture, Kansai Region(region in orange)

Thus is a post to show where I’ll be attending school for those months. I will introduce the school, and the surrounding locations.

The city is in Osaka, but is close to Kyoto and Nara (within about 30-60 minute train-ride to them). So far, from what I’ve seen, there’s not a ton to do in Hirakata. That’s good though, because I’ll need lots of time for homework and outside study anyway. However, it doesn’t seem to take long to get to places nearby. There’s the Kaiyukan Aquarium of Osaka, plenty of museums, and the downtown hub of Osaka called Dotonbori. I’m not sure what I’ll be able to go visit, if my school schedule will allow much time off, but I hope to go to some of those.

As for Kansai Gaidai University, it seems like a nice school. It’s a 13,000 student school, so about 10,000 more student than Siena, with most being local students and an average of several hundred foreign students. To save myself time and others lots of reading, I will attach a link to the school’s website (in English) and you can look around if you’d like 🙂
